What's the penalty if my gas safety certificate is overdue?
Under Gas Safety Regs 1998 (reg 36), failing to carry out an annual landlord gas safety check carries an unlimited fine on conviction. For HMOs, each room or gas appliance may be treated as a separate offence. Your current exposure is £24,000 based on the maximum civil penalty.
